Most exchanges assume you have a bank app and a card. Bitget also accepts cash at OXXO, the convenience chain on almost every corner in Mexico. For residents paid partly in cash, for people whose banks keep blocking exchange transfers, and for anyone sitting on Pi Network coins, that makes it worth a close look. Just know that your pesos are handled by outside providers, not by Bitget itself.
What Bitget is
Bitget was founded in 2018, is registered in Seychelles and is led by CEO Gracy Chen. It started with derivatives and copy trading and now covers spot, P2P, yield products and its own wallet. Latin American information sits on the official Bitget site in Spanish, and the app also runs in English. Bitget's own press release calls Mexico one of its largest markets in Central and Latin America.
The SAT and UIF registration, in plain terms
On 18 May 2026 Bitget announced a vulnerable-activity registration with the SAT and a completed registration with the UIF, Mexico's Financial Intelligence Unit. Under Mexico's anti-money-laundering law (LFPIORPI), providing virtual-asset services is a "vulnerable activity". Since the July 2025 reform, that explicitly covers platforms serving Mexicans from abroad. Registering means identifying clients and filing notices on certain transactions.
It does not make Bitget a CNBV-licensed fintech, and it doesn't put any Mexican guarantee behind your balance. Banxico's Circular 4/2019 still keeps licensed institutions from selling crypto to the public. Think of it as a compliance step, not an operating license. The full picture is in our guide to crypto legality in Mexico.
Your peso options
| Method | Handled by | Timing | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| SPEI | Third-party provider (Swapple since Sept 2024) | "Generally instant" | Provider fee on screen |
| OXXO Pay | Third-party provider | Instant once paid at the till | MXN 10,000 cap per reference |
| Peso P2P | Another user, with Bitget escrow | As quickly as the seller confirms | Ad price and reputation |
Bitget's help article says you may need to register with the provider the first time, and that without completed identity verification "your deposit may fail". It doesn't publish fees or limits and carries a notice that it may be outdated, so the app screen is what counts.
A note for foreigners
Cash at OXXO looks like a workaround for expats without a Mexican bank account. It might be, but we couldn't confirm what the payment provider asks for at registration. Some Mexican payment providers ask for a CURP, which visitors don't have. Try a small amount before you plan around it. Residents with a CURP should be fine.
Paying at OXXO, step by step
- Verify your account. Complete Bitget's KYCKnow Your Customer: identity checks (ID plus selfie) required under anti-money-laundering rules. before depositing.
- Pick MXN, then Bank deposit. Under "Pay with", choose Mexican pesos.
- Choose OXXO Pay and the amount. Check the fee and the total the provider shows.
- Generate the reference. Register with the provider if asked and save the barcode.
- Pay at the till. Tell the cashier it's an OXXO Pay payment, pay in cash and keep the receipt.
- Wait for confirmation. You get an email and an in-app message; the balance shows under Assets.
What MXN 3,000 at OXXO really costs
Using MXN 18.70 per USDT as the reference rate. The provider's deposit fee isn't published, so we use a hypothetical MXN 15 charge to show its effect:
- OXXO Pay deposit: MXN 15 would be 0.5% of MXN 3,000, but 5% of MXN 300. Fewer, larger deposits win.
- Pesos to USDT: about 160.4 USDT at the reference rate, less the quote's margin.
- USDT to BTC on spotThe market for buying and selling at today's price with immediate settlement.: Bitget lists 0.1% for both maker and takerMaker orders wait on the order book; taker orders fill immediately. At Bitget's base tier both pay the same rate., or 0.16 USDT (about MXN 3). Pay the fee in BGB, Bitget's token, and it drops to 0.08%.
As everywhere, the trading fee is small change next to the spreadThe gap between the rate you're quoted and the market rate. It's a cost even when no fee appears. on the peso conversion. Compare the quote with Bitso's USDT/MXN price first.
With a debit or credit card, US or Mexican, you can buy crypto directly and see the full charge before paying.
Cash or SPEI: which to use
If you have a Mexican bank account, SPEI is usually the better route. You don't leave the house, there's no store reference to expire, and the transfer arrives from an account that already carries your name, which keeps compliance checks simple. OXXO Pay earns its place in three situations: you're paid in cash and don't want to deposit it at a bank first, your bank has a habit of holding transfers to exchanges, or you want to keep a small, separate crypto budget outside your main account. In each case, compare the provider's fee on screen with what you'd pay on SPEI before choosing.
Verification and limits
Bitget asks for identity verification before peso deposits and P2P: a passport or Mexican ID and a selfie. SPEI deposit limits aren't published on the help page we checked. The only cap we know is the MXN 10,000 per OXXO Pay reference. On P2P, each ad sets its own minimum and maximum, so a large sale may need several trades with different buyers.
Selling Pi Network on Bitget
Bitget opened PI/USDT on 20 February 2025, the day Pi's open mainnet launched, alongside OKX and MEXC. The short version: finish Pi's KYC and migrate your coins to mainnet; copy your PI deposit address (and memo, if shown) on Bitget; send a small test from your Pi Wallet, then the rest; sell on PI/USDT; turn the USDT into pesos. No platform we checked offers PI against pesos. Expect sharp price swings, too: on launch day, Cointelegraph reported PI dropping from a high of USD 1.84 to USD 0.64. Our Pi Network guide covers network fees and the scams that target Pi holders.
Getting pesos out
There's an information gap here. Bitget documents peso deposits, but we found no official article on MXN withdrawals to a CLABE. What works:
- P2P: sell USDT to a buyer who pays your CLABE by SPEI, and release only once the money is in your bank. Our P2P guide covers the common scams.
- Another exchange: send USDT to Bitso on a cheap networkThe blockchain a coin travels on. USDT exists on several, such as Tron or Polygon, each with its own sending fee. both platforms support, sell for pesos and withdraw by SPEI for free.
Residents who sell at a profit owe tax on the gain; our Mexico crypto tax guide explains how the SAT treats it.
Pros and cons
- Cash deposits at OXXO through OXXO Pay, plus SPEI
- Announced SAT vulnerable-activity and UIF registrations in May 2026
- PI/USDT market since Pi's open mainnet
- Spot at 0.1% maker and taker; 0.08% with BGB
- Peso P2P paid by SPEI
- Pesos handled by third-party providers, with separate sign-up and fees shown only on screen
- No official documentation of MXN withdrawals to a CLABE
- OXXO Pay capped at MXN 10,000 per reference
- Unclear whether visitors without a CURP can register with the providers
- SAT/UIF registration isn't a CNBV license
Who Bitget suits
Bitget suits residents who handle cash, Pi holders who want a liquid PI market, and altcoin buyers. It's less convenient if you want to buy and sell bitcoin against pesos often and withdraw to your bank without extra steps. A peso exchange with free SPEI does that more directly.
Open an account, verify your identity and try an amount you can afford to lose before moving more.
Alternatives
- OKX: also lists PI, with peso purchases through a virtual account and P2P paid to a CLABE.
- Kraken: PI spot since March 2026, with withdrawals to your CLABE at 0.5%.
- Bitso: MXN pairs and free SPEI both ways. Comparing local heavyweights? See Bitso vs Binance.
- Bybit: SPEI with a fixed CLABE and a Mastercard, but no Pi.

Frequently asked questions
Does Bitget work in Mexico?
Yes. Bitget accepts Mexico residents, takes pesos by SPEI and OXXO Pay through third-party providers, and runs a peso P2P market. In May 2026 it announced a vulnerable-activity registration with the SAT and a registration with the UIF. That is an anti-money-laundering registration, not a CNBV fintech license.
Can I pay cash at OXXO for crypto on Bitget?
Yes. Choose MXN, then OXXO Pay, generate a reference and pay cash at the till. A third-party provider processes it and may ask you to register the first time. OXXO Pay references top out at MXN 10,000 each. More cash routes are in our cash and OXXO guide.
How do I sell Pi Network on Bitget?
Finish Pi's KYC and migrate to mainnet, copy your PI deposit address on Bitget, send from your Pi Wallet, sell on PI/USDT, then turn the USDT into pesos via P2P or another exchange with SPEI withdrawals. Our Pi Network guide has the full route.
What are Bitget's trading fees?
Bitget lists 0.1% maker and taker on spot for regular users, with a 20% discount when you pay fees in BGB, which brings it to 0.08%. The peso deposit fee is set by the provider and shown before you confirm.
Can I withdraw pesos from Bitget to a Mexican bank?
We found no official Bitget article on MXN withdrawals to a CLABE. The working routes are selling USDT on P2P to a buyer who pays you by SPEI, or sending crypto to an exchange with peso withdrawals. See our cash-out guide.
